What is Botox?
BOTOX is the only approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe facial wrinkles between the brows, crow’s feet lines and forehead in adults.
How does Botox work?
BOTOX injections target one of the underlying causes of frown, crow’s feet and forehead lines—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. At Estetica Institute, our practitioner will use BOTOX injections to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your facial fine lines and wrinkles in a few days.
Wrinkles result from a combination of many factors. It’s not only about cellular changes that can occur over time, but also the reduction of collagen, damage caused by free radicals in the sun and the environment. When you frown or concentrate, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. And when you squint, the muscles around your eyes contract and cause crow’s feet.
What should I expect with the treatment?
Most of our patient’s reports Botox injections feels like a little pinch. At Estetica Institute we strive to offer the best experience during every treatment. Botox injections for wrinkles involves several injections with a tiny needle. Most people are able to tolerate this quick procedure easily with just ice being applied at the time of injection.
The actual Botox injection process takes about 10 minutes and most patients see results between 3 to 7 days. Botox treatments typically last three to four months on average, though many patients report that it lasts longer after repeated use.
Our Injection Specialist will discuss the treatment goals and perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatment areas with each individual patient. The patient should expect to look the same—only with less fine line and wrinkles.
Botox injections are a technique-sensitive treatment. A patient should not lose the ability to show expression when treated by someone who is licensed, trained, and a medical expert in facial anatomy. Treatment requires minimal downtime or recovery; it’s often called a lunchtime procedure. A patient will be able to go about their normal routine immediately after leaving our clinic.
Most cosmetic centers that inject properly charge $13.00 to $17.00 per unit or $250-$350 per area treated. An area treated can mean anywhere from 15 to 25 units depending on the provider.

What is Dysport?
Dysport is a prescription injection (similar to Botox) proven to help treat the appearance of moderate to severe hyperdynamic facial lines and wrinkles without changing the look or movement of the rest of the face. It’s the lines that disappear, not your expressions.
Which Medicine Works Best: Botox or Dysport?
Overall Botox and Dysport are very similar. Both are a type of botulinum type A used to relax the muscles that cause frown lines and other over active muscles of the face, like forehead lines and crow’s feet. Dysport is a smaller-sized molecule so its unit measurement is different than Botox. Both show similar efficacy and side effects.
There has been much discussion amongst physicians about the differences between Botox and Dysport, or if there is any difference.
Here are the main differences:
Dysport has slightly quicker onset (2-5 days vs 4-7 days for Botox)
Dysport diffuses more (i.e. spreads to a wider area). This is an advantage in some areas of the face.
Ultimately, it is far more important who is injecting your Botox or Dysport, than which of these two products you are using.
