Estetica Institute of the Palm Beaches offers Microdermabrasion to patients in Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach, Jupiter, Tequesta and the surrounding areas.

What is Microdermabrasion?

Whether you want to minimize your pore size, diminish fine lines and wrinkles or revitalize course, textured skin, microdermabrasion may be the answer. Using a powerful mechanical abrasion device that sprays microcrystals across the treatment area, microdermabrasion effectively removes the top layer of dead skin cells while simultaneously promoting collagen production and the growth of new skin cells.

If you live in Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach, Jupiter, Tequesta or the surrounding areas, look no further than Estetica Institute of the Palm Beaches to cater to all of your skin rejuvenating needs. We have performed countless microdermabrasion treatments, and we invite you to come into our offices and find out how this treatment could benefit you. We’ll discuss average microdermabrasion prices, provide you with microdermabrasion before and after photos, and answer any additional questions you may have about the procedure.

How is Microdermabrasion Performed?

Prior to the treatment, your skin will be cleansed thoroughly. While it may be uncomfortable, microdermabrasion is relatively painless, so no anesthesia is necessary. A trained technician will direct the hand-held microdermabrasion machine over the treatment area, gently exfoliating it with a stream of crystals. Once this is complete, the sloughed off skin cells will be suctioned away, leaving you with a new layer of fresh skin cells.

Afterward, the technician will apply rehydrating products to your skin. The procedure is done in the doctor’s office and typically takes no more than 30 minutes. You may, however, need between four and six treatments to achieve optimal results.

Am I a Good Candidate for Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion can be performed on the face, arms and neck, and is effective in improving the appearance of the following imperfections:

  • Sun damage
  • Age spots
  • Small scars
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Coarse, textured skin
  • Whiteheads, blackheads and other blemishes

If you’re unhappy with any of these conditions listed, you may be a good candidate for microdermabrasion. However, if you have extensive hyperpigmentation or if you’re suffering with active acne, warts, rosacea, unstable diabetes or other auto-immune disorders, you may not be a suitable candidate. Please discuss your medical history with your doctor prior to having this treatment.

What Kind of Post-Operative Microdermabrasion Care Can I Expect?

While you may experience some redness following the procedure, this should go away within a few hours. Your doctor will also advise you to avoid going out in the sun for at least a week after your treatment, and to wear SPF should you need to do so.

To ease the sun- or wind-burnt feel, you can apply moisturizer to the treated area, but avoid wearing foundation for at least 24 hours. Other than that, microdermabrasion requires little to no down time, and you’re able to resume normal daily activities immediately.
