Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Breast Augmentation
How is the procedure performed?
The surgeon makes a small incision below the breast, in the lower part of the areola or in the axilla (the armpit). Next, he creates a pocket behind the breast tissue (subglandular) or behind the chest muscle (submuscular). The surgeon then inserts the breast implants into the desired pockets and positions them appropriately to achieve symmetry and the desired appearance. Finally, the surgeon sutures up the incisions, layer-by-layer.
Where is the surgery performed?
The surgery is performed in Estetica Institute’s accredited surgical center, in Palm Beach Gardens, under general anesthesia.
How long does the surgery last?
Typically, breast augmentation procedures take about one hour to perform. The patient will recover for about a half-hour after the procedure, and then may go home.
What happens after surgery?
Patients should rest in the 24 hours following surgery. Following this rest period, patients can typically resume their normal activities. Patients may take a shower 48 hours after surgery. Patients will wear a surgical bra for about a week. After seven days, the patient returns to the facility to have her sutures removed. Furthermore, the Estetica Institute will provide patients with pain medications to ease any discomfort that patients may feel after the surgery.
How do I decide the right size of implants to get?
This decision comes down to personal preference. In your pre-surgery consultation, you may want to bring in pictures of women whose breasts you admire. Estetica Institute offers an advanced sizer system that allows patients to visualize what they will look like after the procedure with different size implants. This system almost guarantees achieving the right size implant for your body and desired look.
